B113 – Public Speaking
Public speaking is exciting and very challenging. It has the potential of creating life changing experiences. Students of this course will learn how to present influential speeches. They will learn how to overcome the anxiety that this topic presents. They also will be given opportunities to prepare and present a variety of speeches in a supportive environment. This course emphasizes the principles of effective oral communication and the development of public speaking skills. Non-verbal communication, visual aids, and the effective use of presentation technology will be addressed and applied. Instructor and peer feedback, as well as video analysis will be used to improve speech design and delivery. The classroom will become a place of dynamic investigation where principles and techniques will be applied. An interactive model of learning will be practiced.
