Applying Your Skills: Work Experience Practicum

The work experience practicum (WEP) component is a critical aspect that will increase your success in your chosen field. You will apply the principles you’ve learned in the classroom at a place of employment that can utilize your new skills. WEP helps students obtain the real-life skills necessary to be successful in the workplace.

Students are required to apply for and arrange their own WEP as part of their learning process. Our advisors can help you decide the direction you want to go, and who you’d like to work with.

We have a variety of partnerships with several employers throughout the North Thompson Valley region and beyond. True responsibility to obtain, learn and develop new skills lies with the student. Once you’ve applied your skills to real-life experiences, you will reap a world of benefits.

Valemount College also partners with various employers in the area who are looking to hire. Once you have received your program certificate, have a look at our job board and see if there’s something there that’s right for you.

We welcome all employers to be an essential part of our work experience programs by contacting the school directly.
